For the past two years, Vikram has been working with international engineering services firm PM Group, Gorta (the longest running Irish overseas not-for–profit development agency) and SCAD (Social Change and Development), on the delivery of a new special resource center for differently abled children located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu in southern India.

 

This project, funded by Gorta and being implemented locally by SCAD, involves the construction of a 11,353 sqm resource center that will provide various treatment and teaching units for mentally and physically  challenged children including physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, orthotic, prosthetics and hydrotherapy. It will serve mainly as a center to which children can come for treatment and for learning and will provide residential accommodation for some of those attending and their carers.

 

Vikram Bhat carried out a series of audits and technical inspections of the project with Gorta and SCAD as it approaches successful completion in mid 2013.
